Legacy BI to Power BI
Legacy BI to Power BI migration, figure by figure.
BusinessObjects, OBIEE and Qlik environments are facing end-of-support timelines. We move reports, universes and semantic models to Power BI, and check every figure against the original before your users switch.
The problem
What gets stuck today.
- Hundreds of reports, nobody knows which are usedYears of reports, copies and personal versions. Migrating all of them wastes months; migrating the wrong ones loses trust.
- Business logic hidden in the semantic layerUniverses and repositories carry definitions nobody wrote down. Rebuild them wrong and the numbers change quietly.
- Users who won’t switchIf the new dashboard shows a different number, people go back to the old one and the license never goes away.
How it works
Four steps, each one you can review.
- Usage inventoryWhich reports are actually used, by whom and how often. What nobody opens gets retired, not migrated.
- Semantic model firstDefinitions are rebuilt once in Power BI, with owners, so every report uses the same figure.
- Figure-by-figure checkEach migrated report is compared against the original for the same filters and periods.
- Switch in wavesTeams move in waves, with the old report available until the new one is signed off.
What you get
Deliverables, not promises.
Everything lives in your cloud and in your name.
- Usage inventory of reports, universes and dashboards
- Power BI semantic models with documented definitions and owners
- Migrated reports, checked figure by figure against the original
- Comparison report per migrated report
- Rollout plan in waves, with sign-off per team
- Retirement plan for the legacy BI platform
FAQ
What people ask.
Which BI platforms do you migrate from?
BusinessObjects, OBIEE, Qlik and other legacy BI tools. The inventory confirms what you have and what is really used.
Do you migrate every report?
No. We migrate what is used. Reports nobody opens are documented and retired, which usually shortens the project considerably.
Does the data have to move too?
Not necessarily. Power BI can read from your current warehouse. If the data platform also needs to move, PRAX-IA Bridge handles that part with the same reconciliation.
How do we know the numbers are the same?
Every migrated report is compared against the original with the same filters and periods, and you receive the comparison before users switch.
